The Corps Experience

What it's really like to spend a summer developing as a coach, leader, and educator at one of the nation's top fencing clubs.

More Than an Internship
A Summer That Changes Everything

The Fencing Corps isn't just a job — it's an immersive experience that transforms how you think about coaching, teaching, and the sport of fencing. Over the course of one summer, you'll go from fencer to educator, from student to leader.

You'll teach hundreds of kids. You'll learn from Olympians. You'll build friendships with people who share your passion. And you'll walk away with skills and confidence that last a lifetime — whether your path leads to coaching, education, business, or beyond.

"Teaching fencing has been one of the most consistently rewarding parts of my life." — Orlaith Fournier, Class of 2024

A Typical Day
What Your Summer Looks Like

Every day is different, but here's a taste of what corps members experience: mornings start with coaching sessions where you lead groups of young fencers through drills and activities. Afternoons bring one-on-one instruction, camp activities, and team meetings where you debrief with senior coaches.

Throughout the week, you'll rotate through themed learning sessions covering everything from lesson planning to club marketing. By the end of the summer, you'll have a complete toolkit for coaching, teaching, and running fencing programs.

"I look forward to learning from the best in the business and being immersed in a high-performance community." — Jordan Diacos, Class of 2024
The Community
The People Who Make It Special

The Fencing Corps brings together fencers from across the country and around the world — from universities like Columbia, Michigan, Haverford, Boston University, Smith, George Mason, Lund University (Sweden), and more. What unites everyone is a shared love for the sport and a desire to give back.

You'll be mentored by TMFC's world-class coaching staff, including Olympians and national team coaches from 7+ countries. And the bonds you form with your fellow corps members? Those last well beyond the summer.

"I'm greatly looking forward to working with both my fellow corps members as well as the many experienced coaches at TMFC." — Daniel Carlstedt Ringius, Class of 2025 (Lund, Sweden)

Corps Classes

Two classes of Fencing Corps interns have helped shape the program into what it is today.

Inaugural Class — 2024

The first-ever cohort of Fencing Corps interns set the standard — coaching hundreds of young fencers, building the program's culture, and proving that passionate young coaches can make an extraordinary impact.

Building on the success of year one, the second cohort expanded the program's reach, deepened the coaching curriculum, and brought new energy and perspectives from universities across the country and beyond.
